The Academy, Sydenham-Highlands North Shul and the Israel Centre are proud to present an evening of wisdom and insight with Rabbi Dr Benny and Rabbanit Noa Lau. Join us for two 40-minute talks with this powerhouse couple, who have been and continue to be agents of change in Israeli society and the Modern Orthodox world.

About the Laus

Rabbi Dr Benny Lau is a noted scholar, author, and social justice activist. He is the director of the 929 Tanakh B'Yachad daily Bible study initiative and the Chairman of AKIM – the Israeli national organisation for people with intellectual disabilities and their families. A charismatic leader, social entrepreneur, and media figure, he speaks out clearly on current issues, focusing on the humanistic values of Judaism and insisting that tradition face the challenges of contemporary society.

Rabbanit Noa Lau, Associate Dean of Nishmat, is a Yoetzet Halacha and the Moshe and Charlotte Green Chair of Jewish Law at Nishmat, where she coordinates Nishmat’s Keren Ariel Yoatzot Halacha Training Programme. She has a Master’s degree in Tanach from Bar Ilan University and taught for many years at the Pelech School in Jerusalem.
