On Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, we usually don't fly solo, the whole period is one redolent of the warmth, togetherness and nurturing bonds of family and community.
This year, however, will be different, and therein lies the incredible opportunity! How many of us ever open a machzor (the prayer book for the high holidays) before we arrive in shul on Rosh Hashanah? Have we ever chosen a part of the service in which we can immerse our minds and hearts? Have we ever delved into the music and tunes, looking at their sources, in the Sepharadi and Ashkenazi customs? Have we ever prepared?
This year is a profound opportunity to build ourselves and make the process of the High Holidays one which takes us to new Highs!
Join the Academy, Ilana Stein, Chazzan Oded Peles and our faculty in partnership with Linksfield Shul, Camps Bay Shul, Sandton Shul & Ohr Somayach Sea Point, to make the Mazchor, its music, melodies, meanings and Majesty, your own. We will examine the structure of the period, the machzor and its music, and equip you, the participant, with the tools for exploring and personalising your experience.
